A forum on staying healthy is the focus of a free, public program, part of a "To Your Health" series being presented by Southern Illinois University School of Medicine and the Springfield Ministerial Alliance. The talk will be presented at 6 p.m. Wednesday, June 30, at New Mission Church of God, 408 N. 8th St., Springfield. The presenter is Dr. Cynthia G. Thomas, assistant professor of family and community medicine at SIU.

Thomas joined the SIU faculty in 1998. She earned her medical degree at SIU and completed her family practice residency at SIU's Springfield program (1991, 1994). She earned her bachelor's degree at the University of Illinois at Urbana (1987). She also completed a fellowship in community medicine at the University of California in San Diego (2001).

The "To Your Health" series is hosted at the invitation of the ministers in the Springfield Ministerial Alliance. The program moves each month to one of the churches.
