SIU Med School Sponsors Alzheimer Educational Forum

"Elder Abuse and the Dementia Population" is the topic of an educational forum presented by the Center for Alzheimer Disease and Related Disorders (CADRD) at Southern Illinois University School of Medicine. It will be held 8:30 - 11:30 a.m. Wednesday, February 2, in the Wedeberg Conference Center at Memorial Medical Center, First and Miller Streets in Springfield.

The program begins at 9 a.m. with Greg Kyrouac, SIU director of outreach for CADRD, and Joyce DeRenzy, director of Senior Strength for the Center for Prevention of Abuse in Peoria, presenting.

The forum is open to various health professionals, including nursing home administrators, social workers, nurses, home health providers and counselors as well as family caregivers. There is a $10 fee for those needing certificates of attendance but otherwise there is no cost to attend. The forum is supported by Gateway Geriatric Education Center of Missouri and Illinois.

Parking is available in the visitor lots located east and south of the hospital's main entrance. Reservations are requested and can be made by contacting Leslie Randolph, SIU Center for Alzheimer Disease and Related Disorders, at 217-545-7181 weekdays, or email lrandolph@siumed.edu.
