Twelve Medical School Faculty Promoted

Academic promotions have been awarded to twelve faculty members at Southern Illinois University School of Medicine in Carbondale, Quincy and Springfield. The promotions were approved in April by the SIU Board of Trustees and are effective in July.

[Note – faculty are in Springfield unless noted.]

Seven faculty members have been promoted – Dr. James M. Daniels, from associate professor to professor of family and community medicine in Quincy; Kimberly Andrews Espey, Ph.D., from associate professor to professor of family and community medicine in Carbondale; Dr. Maureen D. Francis, from assistant to associate professor of general internal medicine; Dr. Susan T. Hingle, from assistant to associate professor of general internal medicine; Dr. Osaretin B. Idusuyi, from assistant to associate professor of orthopaedic and rehabilitation; Dr. Michael W. Neumeister, from associate professor to professor of plastic and reconstructive surgery, and Dr. Jeffrey A. Suzewits, from assistant to associate professor of family and community medicine.

One faculty member has been promoted with tenure – Dr. Bradon J. Wilhelmi, from assistant to associate professor of plastic and reconstructive surgery.

Five faculty members have been awarded tenure -- Dr. Keith R. Gabriel, associate professor of orthopaedic and rehabilitation; Dr. Jan Rakinic, associate professor of general surgery; Dr. Bradley F. Schwartz, associate professor of urology, Dr. John F. Sutyak, associate professor of general surgery, and Dr. Thomas H. Tarter, Ph.D., associate professor of urology.
