Staying Healthy is Focus for To Your Health Lecture

Diabetes is the topic of a free, public program, part of a "To Your Health" series being presented by Southern Illinois University School of Medicine and the Springfield Ministerial Alliance. The talk will be presented at 6 p.m. Wednesday, August 25, at the Washington Street Mission, 408 N. 8th St., Springfield. The presenter is Dr. Sam Gaines.

Gaines is medical advisor in the health care regulation division at the Illinois Department of Public Health as well as an emergency physician at St. John's Hospital and a volunteer faculty member at SIU School of Medicine. He earned his medical degree and completed his internal medicine residency both at SIU (1977, 1980). He is board certified in both internal medicine and emergency medicine.

The "To Your Health" series is hosted at the invitation of the ministers in the Springfield Ministerial Alliance. The program moves each month to one of the churches.
