SIU Med School to Display Posters of Jewish Women Scientists

Posters depicting the international contributions Jewish women have made in the field of medicine will be exhibited Monday, January 9, through Friday, January 20, in main lobby (second floor) of Southern Illinois University School of Medicine, 801 N. Rutledge, Springfield. The exhibit is sponsored by the Springfield Jewish Federation and co-sponsored by the diversity and minority affairs office at the School of Medicine.

This exhibit, developed by the Hadassah-Brandeis Institute in Waltham, Mass., profiles women scientists and their medical breakthroughs. Scientists profiled include Ivet Bahar, Ph.D.; Dr. Marlene Rabinovitch; Hadassa Degani, Ph.D.; Valerie Mizrahi, Ph.D.; Ruth Arnon, Ph.D.; Ruth Gabizon, Ph.D.; Patrica Goldman-Rakic, Ph.D.; Rosalyn Yalow, Ph.D.; and Baroness Susan Greenfield.

The exhibit will be open to the public during the School’s regular business hours, 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. weekdays. A reception will be held for the public at 5 p.m. Tuesday, January 10. For information, call Rabbi Barry Marks, Temple Israel, 652-5205.
