Two from Southern Illinois University School of Medicine have

received professional honors.

Lisabeth A. DiLalla, Ph.D., professor of family medicine at Southern Illinois University School of Medicine in Carbondale, has been awarded fellow status by the Association of Psychological Science (APS).  Fellow status is awarded to APS members who have made sustained outstanding contributions to the science of psychology in the areas of research, teaching or service.  The APS is a nonprofit organization dedicated to the advancement of scientific psychology.

DiLalla joined the SIU faculty in 1990.  She earned her doctoral and master’s degrees from the University of Virginia in Charlottesville, Va., (1987, 1985) and her bachelor’s from Brandeis University in Waltham, Mass. (1981).

Dr. Susan Hingle, associate professor of internal medicine, has been elected governor-elect of the Illinois southern chapter of the American College of Physicians (ACP).  She begins the one-year term at the annual ACP meeting in May followed by a four-year term as governor at the annual meeting in April 2009.  ACP governors provide a link between members, headquarters and the Board of Regents and are responsible for coordinating local ACP activities.

Hingle joined the SIU faculty in 1998.  She completed a residency in internal medicine at Georgetown University Medical Center in Washington, D.C. (1997).  She earned her medical degree at Rush Medical College in Chicago (1993) and her bachelor’s at Miami University in Oxford, Ohio (1989).  Hingle is certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine.
