Twelve SIU School of Medicine Faculty Members Promoted

Academic promotions have been awarded to twelve faculty members at Southern Illinois University School of Medicine.  The promotions were approved this spring by the SIU Board of Trustees and are effective July 1.
[Note – faculty are in Springfield unless noted.]

Eight faculty members have been promoted – Dr. Carol A. Bauer, from associate professor to professor of surgery; Dr. Karen E. Broquet, from associate professor to professor of internal medicine; Timothy D. Koschmann, Ph.D., from associate professor to professor of medical education; Dr. Paula S. Mackrides, from assistant professor to associate professor of family and community medicine in Quincy; Mary Ellen McAsey, Ph.D., from assistant professor to associate professor of obstetrics and gynecology; Ross D. Silverman, J.D., from associate professor to professor of medical humanities; Dr. Christine Y. Todd, from assistant professor to associate professor of internal medicine; and Sandra Vicari, Ph.D., from assistant professor to associate professor of psychiatry.

Three faculty members have been promoted with tenure – Dr. Deliang Cao, Ph.D., from assistant professor to associate professor of medical microbiology, immunology and cell biology; Dr. Elizabeth Peralta, from assistant professor to associate professor of surgery; and Dr. Jacquelyn A. Quin, from assistant professor to associate professor of surgery.

One faculty member received tenure – Dr. John Godwin, professor of internal medicine and associate director of the SimmonsCooper Cancer Institute at SIU.
