SIU Med School Sponsors Patent Law Conference

Changes and challenges to U.S. patent law will be the topic of a educational conference for inventors, technology managers and legal professionals offered by Southern Illinois University School of Medicine in Springfield.  The conference is 8:30 – 10:25 a.m. Thursday, September 27 in SIU’s South Auditorium, (second floor) 801 N. Rutledge St.  It is jointly sponsored by SIU and the Government Bar Association.

The conference begins at 8:35 a.m. with “Patent and Trademark Depository at the Illinois State Library” (ISL), presented by Margaret Collins, ISL library program specialist.  Remaining sessions are “Changes and Challenges to U.S. Patent Law” by Robert Patino, director of the SIU Office of Technology Transfer and assistant general council (8:45 a.m.) and “How Changing Laws affect Portfolio Management” by Jeff Myers, Southern Illinois University Carbondale senior technology specialist (9:45 a.m.).  Patino is the conference course director.

The course has applied for Continuing Legal Education credit.  There is no charge for the conference, but pre-registration is encouraged.  Contact SIU’s Office of Technology Transfer, 217-545-8167 weekdays.
