SIU School of Medicine Employees Honored for Service

Southern Illinois University School of Medicine has honored more than 100 employees this fall in Springfield, Carbondale, Decatur and Quincy for their years of service. 

Thirty-five year awards went to Donald Caspary, Ph.D., professor and distinguished scholar of pharmacology; Morris Cooper, Ph.D., professor and chair of medical microbiology, immunology and cell biology; Carl Faingold, Ph.D., professor and chair of pharmacology; and Pamela Speer, associate provost for finance and administration. 

Thirty-year awards went to Stace Cameron, information technology manager/ administrative coordinator and Lena Carlson, computer systems operations specialist, both in information resources; Dr. Subhash Chaudhary, professor of pediatrics; Phillip Davis, Ph.D., research associate professor and associate provost for external and health affairs; Dr. Allen DevlescHoward, professor of neurology; and Debbie Dixon, security guard, and Paula Kennett, chief clerk, both capital planning and service operations; and Penelope Tippy, M.D., professor of family and community medicine (Carbondale). 

Twenty-five year awards went to Catherine Dickman, public functions supervisor in the office of the dean and provost; Tonna Kloeden, local area network support specialist in institutional planning and management information; Loretta Mabie, office systems specialist in obstetrics and gynecology; Vicki Morris, office systems specialist in surgery; Charles Peart, security guard supervisor in capital planning and service operations; Lois Strom, assistant to the chair in surgery; Sandra Vicari, Ph.D., assistant professor of psychiatry; Joanne Warner, library operations associate in the medical library; and Craig Whitworth, coordinator in research and faculty affairs.

Twenty-two twenty-year awards, 27 fifteen-year awards and 31 ten-year awards also were awarded.
