SIU Med School to Hold Golf Scramble for Camp COCO

Teams are being formed for the annual charity golf scramble in June benefiting the Camp COCO Children’s Cancer Fund at Southern Illinois University School of Medicine in Springfield.  There will be a shotgun start at 12:30 p.m. on Friday, June 26, at Piper Glen Golf Club, 7112 Piper Glen Dr., Springfield.  The presenting sponsor of the four-person scramble is Complete Care Pharmacy.

The entry fee of $150 per player includes greens fees, golf cart, dinner, on-course beverages and prizes.  The dinner features a silent auction.  Sponsorships at various levels of support, including of golf carts in honor or memory of a family member or friend, also are available.

The COCO Children’s Cancer Fund supports Camp COCO and other projects for young patients being treated for hematological and oncological diseases.  Camp COCO is a summer camp sponsored by SIU School of Medicine where kids with cancer and blood disorders can spend a week enjoying typical camping activities.  The campers receive special attention from SIU’s pediatric staff and health professionals as well as various community volunteers.  The cost of sending one child to camp is approximately $500.  This year’s camp will be held July 12-17 at Timber Pointe Outdoor Conference Center on Lake Bloomington.
