November 14, 2008 Eighteen third-year medical students have been elected officers, representatives and committee members for the Class of 2010 at Southern Illinois University School of Medicine in Springfield.

SIU School of Medicine is a public medical school established in 1970 and focused on the health care needs of downstate Illinois. An international leader in medical education, the school is based in Carbondale and Springfield and is specifically oriented to educating new physicians prepared to practice in Illinois communities. SIU School of Medicine Class of 2010 Officers
• Sumer Allensworth, daughter of Kenny Allensworth of Quincy and Elaine Balmer of Hamilton, was elected chair of the junior class.
• Tyler Allison, son of Mel and Cheryl Allison of Riverton, was elected vice chair of the junior class.
• Ashley Starwalt, daughter of David and Lori Starwalt of Mattoon, was elected secretary of the junior class.
• Kathleen Eichinger, daughter of Regina A. Eichinger of Springfield, was elected treasurer of the junior class.
• Stephen W. Hill, son of John and Joan Hill of Normal, was elected as junior class representative to the student general assembly.
• Joshua Turner, son of Randy and Cindy Turner of Belkamp, was elected as junior class representative to the student general assembly.
• Quoc Pham, son of Nhat Pham and Mary Van of Pearland, Texas, was elected as junior class representative to the student general assembly.
• Sameer Vohra, son of Saifi and Fatema Vohra of Westmont, was elected as a member of the Organization of Student Representatives.

• Mark Adams, son of Bedford and Sharon Adams of Louisville, Ky., was elected to serve on the admissions committee.
• Adam King, son of Dale and Sherri King of Mendon, was elected to serve on the admissions and the student advisory committees.
• Brandt Whitehurst, son of Curtis Whitehurst of Pleasant Plains and Lisa Chua of Spring, Texas, was elected to serve on the educational policy committee.
• Earl Barrientos, son of Drs. Joel K. and Melinda M. Barrientos of Centralia, was elected to serve on the information management policy committee.
• Jonathan Shirazi, son of Mohsen and Allyssa Shirazi of Tuscola, was elected to serve on the library advisory committee.
• Richard Jeisy, son of Larry and Sue Jeisy of Elwin, was elected to serve on the student advisory committee.
• Chinelo Echeazu, daughter of Chuks Echeazu of Chicago, was elected to serve on the student progress committee.
• Christopher Lawrance, son of David and Anita Lawrance of Champaign, was elected to serve on the Year 4 curriculum committee.
• Kerri M. Lockhart, daughter of Linda S. Lockhart of Chicago, was elected to serve on the Year 3 curriculum committee.
• Valerie R. Roth, daughter of Michael and Vida Mazzocco of Champaign, was elected to serve on the doctoring committee.
