SIU Med School Sponsors Asian Ethnic Heritage Day

An Ethnic Heritage Day celebration featuring Asian culture will be held Tuesday, January 27, at Southern Illinois University School of Medicine.  The event will be held from noon to 1:30 p.m. in the Pearson Museum (second floor) at 801 N. Rutledge St., Springfield.

The program includes a short talk about the Chinese New Years by Fangting Wu, an SIU graduate student in medical microbiology, immunology and cell biology, and a demonstration of Chinese New Year’s scroll calligraphy by Deshou Cao, an SIU graduate student in pharmacology.  There also will be tasting of Asian foods.

Ethnic Heritage Day celebrations are held regularly at the medical school to share information about various ethnic cultures.  The events are organized by SIU’s Diversity, Multicultural and Minority Affairs office.

For more information, contact Patricia Davis at 217-545-7243 weekdays.
