January 22, 2009 SIU Med School Sponsors Asian Ethnic Heritage Day An Ethnic Heritage Day celebration featuring Asian culture will be held Tuesday, January 27, at Southern Illinois University School of Medicine. The event will be held from noon to 1:30 p.m. in the Pearson Museum (second floor) at 801 N. Rutledge St., Springfield. The program includes a short talk about the Chinese New Years by Fangting Wu, an SIU graduate student in medical microbiology, immunology and cell biology, and a demonstration of Chinese New Year’s scroll calligraphy by Deshou Cao, an SIU graduate student in pharmacology. There also will be tasting of Asian foods. Ethnic Heritage Day celebrations are held regularly at the medical school to share information about various ethnic cultures.
