SIU Med School Sponsors Hispanic-Latino Ethnic Heritage Day

An Ethnic Heritage Day celebration featuring Hispanic and Latino cultures will be held Tuesday, September 9, at Southern Illinois University School of Medicine.  The event will be held from noon to 1:30 p.m. in the second-floor lobby of the School’s main building at 801 N. Rutledge St., Springfield.

The program includes a talk by Marbella Marsh, Hispanic liaison for the Illinois Department of Public Health Center for Minority Health Services.  There also will be cultural displays and artifacts as well as tasting of foods from Hispanic and Latino cultures.
Ethnic Heritage Day celebrations are held regularly at the medical school to share information about various ethnic cultures.  The events are organized by SIU’s Diversity, Multicultural and Minority Affairs office.
