SIU Med School Sponsors Talk Featuring Chris Lowery
Team building is the topic for an Internal Medicine Grand Rounds presentation next week at Southern Illinois University School of Medicine. This lecture is open to the public. It is at 8 a.m. Tuesday, June 9, in the Wedeberg Conference Center on the lower level of Memorial Medical Center, 701 N. 1st St., Springfield.
Chris Lowery, head basketball coach at SIUC, is the guest speaker. His topic is “Building a Great Team.” Lowery, who played point guard for the Saluki’s during the 1990-94 seasons, has been head coach of the team since 2004.
“Lowery has done a remarkable job of recruiting and developing groups of young men and creating outstanding teams that have been competitive in the Missouri Valley and NCAA tournament play. His remarks about building a great team are relevant to the increasingly complex world of medicine,” said Dr. David Steward, professor and chair of internal medicine at SIU.
Grand Rounds are weekly medical teaching sessions organized by each SIU clinical department to help physicians and other medical personnel stay abreast of developments in patient care and research. SIU’s Department of Internal Medicine holds its Grand Rounds Tuesday mornings from mid-August through June and teleconferences them to downstate sites through the School’s Telehealth Networks and Programs.
For more information about the presentation, call SIU’s internal medicine department at 545-2596 weekdays.
