SIU Med School to Exhibit Art by Sangamon County Students

More than 100 pieces of selected artwork created by Sangamon County elementary, middle and high school students is being exhibited Monday, April 27, through Wednesday, May 20, at Southern Illinois University School of Medicine.  The exhibit is in the second floor lobby of the School’s main building, 801 N. Rutledge St., Springfield.  It is open to the public during the School's regular business hours, 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. weekdays.

The display represents the work of students from 28 schools in Sangamon County and organized by the area art teachers.  The artwork includes paintings, sculptures, pen and ink drawings, weavings and mixed media constructions.

This is the 22nd year the School of Medicine has hosted the exhibit.  It currently is coordinated by Amy Minch, art teacher at DuBois Elementary School in Springfield. 
A reception for the students, their parents, teachers and principals will be held
4:15 to 5 p.m. Friday, May 1.
