SIU Voice Center Offers Voice Care Workshop

A free workshop will be offered to area singers, actors and public speakers on Saturday, June 27.  Dr. Robert T. Sataloff is presenting the program from 9 a.m. to noon at the Dove Conference Center, main level, St. John’s Hospital, 619 E. Mason Street, Springfield.  The workshop is sponsored by the SIU Voice Clinic at St. John’s Hospital, the Hoogland Center for the Arts and Over the Moon Productions, Inc.

Sataloff is professor and chair of otolaryngology-head and neck surgery at Jefferson Medical College at Thomas Jefferson University in Philadelphia.  A nationally recognized laryngologist and voice expert, he will present information on proper voice technique, the anatomy and physiology of the voice, and common diagnoses and treatments in patients with voice disorder.   There also will be a question and answer session.

"The voice is an instrument and needs to be treated as one.  People who rely on their voice for their profession know how important it is to maintain it,” says Sataloff.
