SIU Med School Awards Employee Recognition

Southern Illinois University School of Medicine has honored a civil service employee from Carbondale for exemplary work.  He was recognized during the School’s employee recognition activities this spring.

Kent Epplin, anatomical gift coordinator in Carbondale, has been named the Civil Service Employee of the Year.  His nominators said, “He is always courteous and respectful. Kent goes about each day with a ‘can do’ and ‘will do’ attitude.  He projects a positive attitude ands strives to complete work with efficiency and good humor.  He exhibits a cheerful energy that is contagious for those that work with him.” 

Epplin joined the SIU staff in 2006.  He received his associate’s and his bachelor’s degree in mortuary science, both from Southern Illinois University Carbondale (1992, 2006).  Epplin is the son of August and Sandra Epplin of Okawville and the late Laura Epplin from Pinckneyville.  He and his wife, Kelly, and their two children - Hannah, 10 years old, and Will, 6 years old - reside in Pinckneyville.
