SIU Med School Sponsors India Ethnic Heritage Day

An Ethnic Heritage Day celebration featuring Indian culture will be held Tuesday, August 18, at Southern Illinois University School of Medicine.  The event will be held noon to 1:30 p.m. in the Pearson Museum of the School’s main building at 801 N. Rutledge St., Springfield.

The program includes a talk by Ranjan Karri, Ph.D., associate professor of management at the University of Illinois Springfield.  His talk is titled “The Indian Identity - Unity in Diversity.”

There also will be cultural displays and artifacts as well as tasting of foods from Indian culture.

Ethnic Heritage Day celebrations are held regularly at the medical school to share information about various ethnic cultures.  The events are organized by SIU’s Diversity, Multicultural and Minority Affairs office.

For more information, contact Patricia Davis at 217-545-7243 weekdays.
