Ten SIU School of Medicine Faculty Promoted
Academic promotions have been awarded to ten faculty members at Southern Illinois University School of Medicine. The promotions were approved this spring by the SIU Board of Trustees and are effective this July 1. [Note – faculty are in Springfield unless noted.]
Six faculty members have been promoted – Dr. Amber J. Barnhart,
from associate professor to professor of family and community medicine; Dr. Careyana M. Brenham,
from assistant to associate professor of family and community medicine; Dr. Harald Lausen,
from assistant to associate professor of family and community medicine; Louis S. Premkumar, Ph.D.,
from associate professor to professor of pharmacology; Dr. Sriya K. M. Ranatunga from assistant to associate professor of internal medicine; and Dr. David S. Resch,
from associate professor to professor of internal medicine.
Three faculty members have been promoted with tenure – Julio A. Copello, Ph.D.,
from assistant to associate professor of pharmacology; Dr. Chen-Shu Li, Ph.D.,
from assistant to associate professor of anatomy in Carbondale; Dr. Krishna A. Rao, Ph.D.,
from assistant to associate professor of internal medicine.
One faculty member received tenure – Dr. Gary A. Johnson,
professor of obstetrics and gynecology.
Established in 1970, SIU School of Medicine is this year celebrating the 40th anniversary of its founding.
