Building Volunteers Needed for Simmons Cancer Institute
Volunteers are being recruited to serve as hosts in the new Simmons Cancer Institute (SCI) at Southern Illinois University School of Medicine in Springfield. The facility at 315 West Carpenter will be open for patients this July. Many of the School's multi-disciplinary cancer clinics will be based in the new building along with clinical trials and outreach services.
Volunteers are needed to help greet patients, provide general information about the building and assist with wheel chairs and way-finding. Shifts will be four hours, mornings or afternoons, Monday through Friday.
Training will be provided. All volunteers will be required to pass a background check. The first group of volunteers will be selected in early June.
For more information, call the Community Support office at 217-545-3837 weekdays or email contact information to firstname.lastname@example.org.
The mission of the Simmons Cancer Institute at SIU is to serve the people of central and southern Illinois by addressing their present and future cancer care needs through medical education, biomedical research and patient service. Its Web site is www.siumed.edu/cancer.
