Two from Southern Illinois University School of Medicine have received professional honors.
Radmila Bogdanich has been named the president of the Administrators in Academic Psychiatry (AAP) at its meeting in April in Baltimore. AAP is dedicated to the improvement of mental health care delivery, education and research through professional management in departments of psychiatry which are affiliated with academic medical centers.
Bogdanich, chief administrator in the psychiatry department, joined SIU in 1994. Previously, she was on staff at the Illinois Department of Public Health. She earned her master’s degree from the University of Illinois Springfield (1984) and her bachelor’s from Indiana University in Bloomington, Ind. (1971).
Dr. Melanie Zupancic, resident in internal medicine, has received the Joseph Johnson Leadership Award from the American College of Physicians (ACP) at its meeting in April in San Diego. The award is given annually to one resident who has demonstrated qualities that exemplify the ACP’s mission to enhance the quality and effectiveness of health care.
Zupancic earned her medical degree from SIU School of Medicine (2007) and her bachelor’s from Illinois Wesleyan University in Bloomington (2003). She is the daughter of Clint and Therese Zupancic of St. Charles and is engaged to Luke Rylander.
