Health Organizations Sponsor Cultural Awareness Training
A free half-day medical training program about cultural awareness for nurses and other health care providers will be presented at 8:30 a.m. Wednesday, April 13, at Southern Illinois University Edwardsville School of Nursing, 409 W. Calhoun St., in Springfield. The program is co-sponsored by SIUE School of Nursing, the Family and Community Medicine Department and Simmons Cancer Institute at SIU School of Medicine, and Sangamon County Department of Public Health.
Frank Olivas, project director for the National Community Health Partners in Tuscon, will give three presentations beginning at 8:50 a.m. – “Cultural Competency,” “Dynamic Interactions” and “Role of Theory.”
Continuing nursing education credit is available through SIUE, which is an accredited approver by the American Nurses Credentialing Center’s Commission on Accreditation.
