SIU Med School Awards Employee Recognition
Two civil service employees from Springfield have been honored for exemplary work by Southern Illinois University School of Medicine. Both were recognized during the School’s employee recognition activities this spring.
Julie Rhodes, office administrator in residency affairs is the 2010 civil service employee of the year. She joined the SIU staff in 2003. Her nominator said, "Julie has worked very hard to form strong, friendly relationships with the entities our office frequently works with. She is eager to provide help wherever needed and does it effortlessly. Julie's professional work greatly contributes to the overall goals of residency affairs and the School of Medicine." Rhodes is a graduate of Hampton Community High School in Hampton, Iowa. She and her husband, Randy, live in Divernon.
Carol Phillips, ambulatory care manager in the neurology department, is the 2010 civil service supervisor of the year. She joined the SIU staff in 1993. Her nominator said, "Carol is willing to do whatever it takes to get the job done. She really cares about the staff and shows what team work means to all of us on a daily basis. She has a great personality and is willing to help in any way possible." Phillips is a graduate of Lanphier High School. She and her daughter, Jennifer, live in Springfield.
