Thirteen SIU School of Medicine Faculty Promoted
Academic promotions have been awarded to 13 faculty members at Southern Illinois University School of Medicine. The promotions were approved this spring by the SIU Board of Trustees and are effective July 1.
[Note – faculty are in Springfield unless noted.]
Seven faculty members have been promoted – Dr. Alan J. Deckard,
from assistant to associate professor of internal medicine; Dr. Mei Chris Huang,
from assistant to associate professor of internal medicine; Dr. Regina A. Kovach, from associate professor to professor of internal medicine; Dr. Laura Q. Rogers,
from associate professor to professor of internal medicine; Bethany Spielman, Ph.D.,
from associate professor to professor of medical humanities; Dr. Andrew J. Varney,
from associate professor to professor of internal medicine; and Dr. Christopher D. Wohltmann,
from assistant to associate professor of surgery.
Four faculty members have been promoted with tenure – Dr. Reuben Bueno, Jr.,
from assistant to associate professor of surgery; Randolph C. Elble, Ph.D.,
from assistant to associate professor of pharmacology; Prema Narayan, Ph.D., from assistant to associate professor of physiology in Carbondale; and April D. Strader, Ph.D.,
from assistant to associate professor of physiology in Carbondale.
Two faculty members received tenure – William P. Halford, Ph.D.,
associate professor of medical microbiology, immunology and cell biology; and Dr. Douglas B. Hood,
associate professor of surgery.
SIU School of Medicine’s mission is to assist the people of central and southern Illinois in meeting their health needs through education, service, research and community service.
