Trio to Perform at Simmons Cancer Institute at SIU

 “Three’s Company,” a female trio who sings music in the style of the Andrews Sisters, will perform at 12 p.m. Thursday, May 12, in the lobby of Simmons Cancer Institute at Southern Illinois University School of Medicine, 315 W. Carpenter, Springfield.  The 30-minute performance is open to the public.  

The members of Three’s Company are Linda Schneider, Linda Morrow and Ann Collins.  Gina Thoele is the group’s accompanist.  The group also sings popular songs from the 1920s-1950s.  The three met during a Springfield Theatre Centre production in 1982.  Most of the trio’s performances take place in the Springfield area, with some appearances at special events throughout the state.

Evidence suggests that music therapy can reduce some symptoms, help healing, improve physical movement and enrich a patient’s qualify of life, according to the American Cancer Society.  There are no claims music therapy can cure cancer or other diseases.
