Group Tours of SIU School of Medicine in Springfield allow visitors to visit laboratories and hear about research advances; see some of our unique teaching methods; and learn about the latest in medical treatment. Groups may schedule tours of our main building, the Medical Instructional Facility, which includes The Pearson Museum, the Medical Library, the Professional Development Laboratory teaching facility, and/or several research laboratories. Our main building is located at 801 N. Rutledge Street in Springfield. There are restrictions on group size and participant age due to the nature of research and clinical work and the limitations of certain facilities being toured. Groups of 30 or fewer with visitors over 13 years of age are most easily accommodated. We ask that you schedule your tour at least three weeks in advance.
The Speakers Program is an opportunity for the School to meet its mission of education, research and service. Providing speakers to the general public is one way that we accomplish that goal. With nearly 200 faculty and staff and many of our medical students and residents participating, we can offer more than 500 topics and can usually accommodate your needs with a speaker who will both educate and inspire your audience.
For more information you can submit this form electronically or contact the Office of Public Affairs, weekdays between 8 a.m. and 4:30 p.m., 217-545-5616.
