We are a comprehensive clinical, research and educational department, specializing in the health care of women both on a primary and subspecialty basis. Our clinical services are part of SIU Healthcare, which is the multispecialty practice of the SIU School of Medicine with the mission of serving the healthcare needs of the residents of central and southern Illinois. SIUCARE is a Statement of Values that acknowledges the commitment and principles offered by the physicians and staff to our patients. Our department provides comprehensive clinical services for women of all ages to include:
General Obstetrics & Gynecology: Providing a full range of general Obstetric and Gynecology services in the outpatient and inpatient setting. The department has eight full time general OB/GYN physicians under the direction of our Division Chief Dr. Erica Nelson.
Gynecologic Oncology: Provides medical and surgical services to patients requiring special treatment of malignant diseases and tumors of the female reproductive tract. We currently have two faculty members, one volunteer clinic faculty member, and are currently recruiting for a fourth member of Gynecologic Oncology.
Maternal Fetal Medicine: Offers high-risk care for the pregnant woman. This is in association with the Springfield Perinatal Center located at St. John's Hospital. The division consists of four high risk pregnancy specialists. The Chief of the Division is Dr. Robert Abrams.
Reproductive Endocrinology & Infertility: Is currently staffed by two physicians, one in male infertility and the other on female infertility. The Medical Director of the SIU Fertility and IVF Center is Dr. J. Ricardo Loret de Mola.
Urogynecology: Offers advanced pelvic medicine and reconstructive surgery for female urinary incontinence in both the departments of Urology and Ob/Gyn. Our new multidisciplinary center is directed by our Chief of the Division, Dr. Sohail Siddique.
