  • Announcements
    • Terri Cameron distributed flyers for the first Technology Fair, scheduled for Friday, December 14, 2001, from 1 to 3 pm in the South Auditorium in Springfield and Life Science 1059 in Carbondale.  The session is called “Which PDA is Right for You?”  Jeff Suzewits and Deb Phillips will make short presentations on how they work with their handheld computers, with Terri Cameron providing an information booth on the student PDA project and Rhona Kelley providing one on the library training.  Best Buy and Circuit City have been contacted and ask to have booths with equipment and peripherals for faculty, staff and students.
    • Jeff Suzewits announced that he was presenting a CME workshop on “How Do I Use One of Those PalmPilots or Visors?”  The session is scheduled for Tuesday, January 30, 2002, from 1 to 4:30 pm in the Lindsay Conference Room.  The session will be videoconferenced to Carbondale.
  • Jeff Suzewits announced that he and Rhona Kelley were revising the E-Physician Elective in Year 4 to include a broader range of issues.  As the elective is re-designed, it will include mechanisms for integrating basic science information into the clinical activities performed as part of the elective.
  • Review of Survey Data:  not discussed.
  • Assessment Software Needs Assessment:  A draft needs assessment was distributed for review by the subcommittee.  The revised version of the survey will be distributed to Curriculum Committee Chairs with a cover memo on Friday, December 7.  Any suggestions for changes to the document should be sent to Terri Cameron by noon on December 7.
  • Interaction with Other Committees:  David Resch explained that the IT Subcommittee charge was to develop recommendations for the EPC and IMPC to review and enact.  He suggested that the subcommittee might wish to develop ties to the Graduate Medical Education and Continuing Education Committees.  The subcommittee concurred.  He will contact the chairs of those committees and develop a mechanism for interaction.
  • Technology Fair:  The following topics (with potential areas of concentration bulleted) were discussed as potential topic areas for noon-hour sessions.  Two topics were given priority; the process of prioritizing the remainder will continue at future meetings.
