I.                    Review of Minutes

The minutes were approved as written

II.                  Review of Submitted Departmental EVU Plans

Dr Steward discussed that the reports he received from departments are quite different from each other.

Plans were submitted from Surgery, Pharmacology, Internal Medicine, Pediatrics, Neurology, MMI & Psych and FCM.

Discussion: It is recommended that the plan that is developed be as simple as possible, rather than complex such as the Dept of Surgery plan.

Also noted is a difference in style of plans submitted i.e. quantitative vs. more narrative where points are assigned by chairs.
Dr. Steward reviewed the "point assignment" system per department.

The group discussed that the report to be submitted to the Dean be sent as an Interim Report as we are not able to submit a "grid" at this time.

It was felt that this committee might be able to submit commonalities that we identified from the plans.

The report should describe the very different issues we have identified between departments.

In addition, our report should include the proposal of a process for the development of an EVU plan.

  1. Linked to job descriptions

  2. Quality must be considered

III.                Report to the Dean

Dr. Steward will draft the letter committee will review.

The Meeting was adjourned at 12:15

Respectfully Submitted,

Karen L. Reynolds RN, BSN
