Hot Cocoa

Little Johnny likes to play outside

Even on the coldest days.

When breath won’t even billow

And fluids fail to flow

He grabs his hat and gloves

And out the door he goes.

For kids the snow is fun

But I know a day will come

When bills rise and fingers numb

Will no longer love the snow.

Then, with his hat and gloves,

Scarf and muffs,

Long johns and socks doubled up,

Hot cocoa waiting in a cup,

Out the door he’ll go

Swearing all the way

As he clears the drive of snow.
