Turn left at the horizon
Light a candle to find the sun
I did everything you told me
Now say that chemo is done
Get cats to jump ineptly
Have a snowflake drift down in June
Hold the tears until tomorrow
Now stop the surgeries soon.
Watch leaves turn red in springtime
Hear the moon howl back at the dogs
You said we would get here someday
Now lift radiation’s fog.
Feel snakes grow warm and fuzzy
Watch the oceans dry up at last.
Force a smile because I said so,
Now promise the cancer’s past.
Turn left at the horizon
Light a candle to find the sun
The battle is joined relentless
Now finished, we’ve just begun.
