Degrees Awarded:

The SIU SOM PA Program offers two different tracks.  The traditional 26 month Program is offered on campus at SIU to students who are not already physician assistants.  This Program allows students who have already earned a Bachelor’s Degree in an area other than Physician Assistant Studies to complete the requirements for a Master of Science in Physician Assistant Studies (MSPA) degree.  The Master’s Completion Program (MCP) allows students who already hold a Bachelor’s Degree in PA to complete the requirements for the MSPA degree via distance learning.  Students enrolled in this track must have already graduated from an accredited PA Program and fulfill stated requirements.
Upon successful completion of either Program, a Master of Science Degree in Physician Assistant Studies (MSPA) is awarded. A Certificate of Completion in Physician Assistant Training is also awarded to students in the full 26 month Program. Graduates in both Programs, receive a Program lapel pin.  These graduates are then candidates for national certification through the National Commission of the Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA). More information is available at www.nccpa.net.
