Children's Medical Resource Network (CMRN) is a program of Southern Illinois University School of Medicine's Department of Pediatrics, funded through a Children's Justice grant from the Illinois Department of Children and Family Services.
CMRN is part of a national trend toward the development of "centers of excellence" with regard to the medical aspects of child protection. Because Southern Illinois encompasses such a large geographic area, it is difficult for one center to meet the needs of all our children.
Therefore, CMRN has created a network of qualified, compassionate medical providers consisting of physicians, nurse practitioners and physician's assistants dedicated to the timely, humane and appropriate medical evaluation and care of children suspected to have been abused or neglected.
