Our Little Star!
One
year ago, her head had virtually no hair left upon it
. but
that is NOT what you noticed about Abby Chapman. It was her eyes.
And they have not changed. The brilliant, crystal clear blue sparkle
is there as it always has been
never telling the ordeal she
has been through.
A slight limp and a lump in her tummy led Abby
and her parents to a diagnosis of hepatoblastoma. The tumor on her
liver was 7 inches in diameter and it was malignant. Treatment reduced
the size of the tumor and surgeons were able to remove it along
with a portion of her liver.
Abby completed her chemotherapy in March, 2004.
Doctors are closely monitoring the progress of her liver as it regenerates,
along with watching some spots on her lungs.
Abby lost hearing due to the chemo and wears hearing
aids
her motor skills are a little behind so she runs a bit
slower and still walks with a bit of a limp. Whether it is chemotherapy
or rehab therapy, she does it all with that twinkle in her eye.
One year ago, Abby Chapman's future was uncertain.
Today, she's looking forward to her dance recital.
Through the years, thousands of children just like
Abby have benefited from services and equipment made possible with
CMN funds. CMN wants to give every child the chance to have the
best life possible. It's that simple.
