Neurosurgery

The division of neurosurgery at SIU is starting a new era of delivering state of the art neurosurgical care locally in Springfield. The division consists of board certified neurosurgeons with expertise in all areas of neurosurgery: cranial, spinal, and peripheral nerves.

Faculty & Staff

	Jeffrey W Cozzens, M.D. Dr. Jeffrey W. Cozzens, Professor and Chair of SIU School of Medicine’s Division of Neurosurgery, has a special interest in surgery for epilepsy, surgery of brain tumors, surgery for Parkinson’s disease and other movement disorders, and microsurgery of the spine.
	José A. Espinosa, M.D. Dr. José Espinosa is a neurosurgeon and Assistant Professor in the Department of Surgery at the Southern Illinois University School of Medicine. Dr. Espinosa has a special interest and surgical expertise in the treatment of epilepsy.
	Devin Vikram Amin, M.D., PhD Dr. Devin Amin recently joined the Division of Neurosurgery. He is an Assistant Professor of SIU School of Medicine’s Division of Neurosurgery. Dr. Amin is board eligible in neurological surgery with specialized focus in minimally invasive techniques.
