In collaboration with Dr. Michael Collard’s laboratory, my laboratory is characterizing the protein-protein interactions and DNA binding characteristics of a transcription factor called DEAF-1. Mutations of DEAF-1 have been found in a variety of cancers and we are examining how these changes affect protein function. Students in my lab receive training in mammalian cell culture and learn a broad range of molecular and cellular techniques while investigating the interacting protein partners and genes regulated by DEAF-1.
