Brain Derived Neutrotrophic Factor (BDNF) as a Marker for Major Depressive Disorder in Women

Possible benefit: Free medical visits over 3 month treatment period
Purpose of trial: To test the idea that a blood test might be used to predict whether a woman will respond to antidepressants
Drug/Device being tested: Drugs tailored to individual's needs

Type of patients needed: Female, no anti-depressant therapy within last month. All co-morbid medical conditions accepted, but documented. Exclude pregnancy or lactation. Suicidal or homocidal, bipolar, substance dependence, psychotic ideation, need for inpatient medical or psychiatric treatment
Age: 18 - 65 years of age

Number of visits required: 7 visits
Length of study involvement: 3 months
