Department of Psychiatry

Greetings Alumni! Welcome to the website for the SIU Department of Psychiatry. As part of our educational mission, we are hoping to develop better communication with alumni of both the categorical psychiatry program and the combined medicine/psychiatry program. We are interested in learning where and how graduates from our program are practicing and in gathering other information that will help us understand how the training and educational curriculum in our program has affected the practice patterns, choices, and certification. In turn, we would like to keep you informed of the many changes taking place within the program and within the department.

The Department of Psychiatry offers (for our graduates who are planning on taking the Part II Examination of the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology) the opportunity to undergo a practice oral board examination conducted with live patients and our board examiner faculty. Also from time to time, we will be conducting surveys of our graduates in order to better learn about the success of the program and any needed changes. You are an important resource.

Please email us with your mailing address, year of program completion, and a word or two about your current practice. We would like to be able to contact you in the future.

***If you graduated from the SIU Psychiatry Training Program particularly within the last 5 years and are anticipating taking the Part II portion (live patient interview and oral examination) of the ABPN Certification Examination, we will offer you free Mock Oral Board Examinations with feedback. Please contact us through the link below.***
