Southern Illinois University School of Medicine - Division of Developmental Disabilities

Fellows in Pulmonary Medicine

The Pulmonary Medicine fellowship program at the Southern Illinois University School of Medicine conducts a specialized pulmonary medicine clinic for people with intellectual disabilities who reside at the Jacksonville Developmental Center.  This clinic enables specialty care for people with intellectual disabilities while proving physicians in training the ability to gain a better understanding of the many unique pulmonary and other medical conditions that commonly occur in this population

Orthopedic Surgery

In collaboration with Jacksonville Developmental Center and the SIU Division of Developmental Disabilities, the SIU Division of Orthopedic Surgery conducts a regularly schedule orthopedic specialty clinic for adults with intellectual disabilities residing at the Jacksonville Developmental Center. This venue operates through the Center’s “out-patient style” Health Care Clinic and offers surgeons in training additional exposure to adults with combined intellectual disabilities and complex musculoskeletal disorders.
