Philip D. Pan, M.D. Director, Adult Outpatient Services
The Division of Adult Outpatient Psychiatry is part of the Department of Psychiatry within the Southern Illinois University School of Medicine. The division is responsible for providing psychiatric care over a broad range of general psychiatric issues. Specialty clinics include geriatric psychiatry, special needs / developmental disabilities, and in concert with the Division of Medicine-Psychiatry in the Department of Internal Medicine, a new Refractory Depression Clinic. Our mission within the medical school is to provide psychiatric education to medical students and residents. Medical students participate in clinical activities during their third-year clerkship, as well as electives in their fourth year. Psychiatry residents and residents in the joint internal medicine-psychiatry program begin their outpatient clinical experiences in their second year. As the one of the fundamental purposes of the medical school is the advancement of knowledge through research, the division is also involved in several research projects.
