Your final evaluation is determined by the following components:

1) H&P Write Up

Pass/Remediate

2) Midterm

Pass/Remediate

Must satisfactorily pass empathic patient interview or remediation will be required.

3) NBME

 

Must score a 62 or above. If student fails on first attempt, they will be required to retake the NBME. If student fails on second attempt, the Department of Psychiatry will recommend a remediation plan to the Student Progress Committee.

4) CCX (3 cases)

 

If a student fails two of the three cases, he/she will remediate one CCX case. If the student fails the case on the second attempt, the Department of Psychiatry will recommend a remediation plan to the Student Progress Committee.

5) Clinical Evaluations

 

If student receives two unprofessional evaluations, the Department of Psychiatry will recommend a remediation plan to the Student Progress Committee.

6) Attitude

Final Clerkship Evaluation

The following criteria will be used in determining "Excellence" in the 3 categories defined
on the Final Clerkship Evaluation Form:

  • Excellence in Cognitives
    Students must score 83 on the NBME.
    Student must pass all 3 CCX.
  • Excellence in Non-Cognitives
    Students must complete an additional paper on substance use disorders.
    A list of acceptable Substance Abuse topics will be compiled.
  • Excellence in Clinical
    Faculty will review student evaluation summaries for students trying for Honors
    or who have been recommended for Honors or Excellence by a faculty member
    on the Final Clerkship Evaluation Form.
     

The summary will include evaluation composite scores and faculty comments. Faculty will be
encouraged to provide more comments on the Final Clerkship Evaluation Form than in the past.
They are also asked to include reference to not having sufficient contact with the student to
determine Honors or Excellence performance.

Faculty will also review marginal student evaluations.
