Philip D. Pan, M.D. Chief, Division of Forensic Psychiatry
The Division of Forensic Psychiatry is a part of the Department of Psychiatry within the Southern Illinois University School of Medicine. Faculty within the Forensic Division are available to confer on a wide range of forensic psychiatric issues. Criminal forensic issues include fitness to stand trial, mental state or sanity at the time of an offense, competency to waive Miranda rights, and sentencing / mitigation. Civil forensic issues include guardianship, independent psychiatric evaluations for disability, malpractice, and fitness for duty.
Faculty in Springfield include Philip D. Pan, M.D., a board-certified forensic psychiatrist, along with several faculty psychologists who are available for consultation and administer standardized psychological and neuropsychological instruments. Additional forensic psychiatric faculty includes Jagannathan Srinivasaraghavan, M.D.,who also serves as medical director to the Choate Mental Health and Developmental Center.
The Division of Forensic Psychiatry also includes other state mental health centers in southern Illinois, including Alton Mental Health Center and Chester Mental Health Center,
