Objectives:

To provide a supportive milieu permitting design, execution and communication
of a research project consistent with the goals of the Department's Division of
Research. To provide faculty guidance and collaboration in the design,
execution and communication of the project.

Description:
The resident will collaborate with Division faculty to design a research project
and timetable, negotiate necessary funding, arrange collaborative
participation, obtain requisite permission from institutional review committees,
execute the research, analyze data and prepare a manuscript describing the
results for publication.

Evaluation:
The resident will be evaluated by a demonstrated product at each stage of
the research project within the timetable specified.

Prerequisites:
Prior approval of Residency Director. Completion of the Residency Seminar
Series "Research in Psychiatry". Demonstrated prior experience in research,
either through participation in the "Introduction to Research in Psychiatry"
experience or through research activities prior to residency. Confirmation of
time commitments and program participation by the Responsible Faculty. Prior
approval of a one-page written proposal by the supervising faculty.
