The Division of Adult Psychiatry provides training to medical students and
residents for inpatient psychiatry treatment to individuals age 18 and over
at Memorial Medical Center and St. John' s Hospital in Springfield. An additional
inpatient teaching site is at McFarland Mental Health Center. Under the
supervision of faculty physicians, resident psychiatrists and medical students
are important members of the treatment planning team who are actively
involved in patient care as part of their training through SIU School of Medicine.

In addition to providing inpatient care, the Division of Adult Psychiatry also
provides consultation services to primary care physicians for adults hospitalized
in either Memorial Medical Center or St. John's Hospital.
