Objectives:

To become acquainted with essential steps of the research endeavor such as
experimental design, literature searching, scientific communication, and ethical
considerations. To acquire skill in establishing patient contact, rapport and
consent for research activities.

Description:
The resident will meet periodically with his/her supervisor in sessions which will
cover literature searching, ethical considerations, ongoing work, etc.
Significant participation in an ongoing research project will result in the
resident's being included as a co-author in any publications resulting from
his/her participation.

Evaluation:
The resident will be evaluated by direct observation, discussion with faculty
which will include self evaluation, and by oral presentation.

Prerequisites:
Prior approval of the Residency Director. Confirmation of time commitments
and program participation with the Responsible Faculty.
