Welcome Eric Black, MD
Eric Black, MD, joined the faculty at Southern Illinois University School of Medicine as an assistant professor of psychiatry and is also a member of SIU HealthCare, the medical school’s practice group. He completed a psychiatry residency in medicine fellowship at the University of Illinois at Chicago (2014) and a general adult psychiatry residency at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base in Dayton, Ohio (2008). He received his medical degree at The Ohio State University College of Medicine and Public Health in Columbus, Ohio (2005). He earned a bachelor’s degree summa cum laude in psychology at Ohio State University (2000). He received numerous military honors and awards during his service as a resident and general medical officer at Wright Patterson Medical Center (2005-13). His research interests include chronic mental illness and psychopharmacology.
Welcome Dana Ingram, LCSW, CADC
Dana Ingram, LCSW, joined SIU Department of Psychiatry as a Psychotherapist and Adjunct Instructor in March, 2014. She received her BSW from University of Missouri-Columbia in 1986 and her MSW in Clinical Social Work from University of Illinois-Champaign in 1990. She began her career as a psychotherapist at the Mental Health Centers of Central Illinois later working at MMC on the Child and Adolescent and Adult Units before becoming the Coordinator of Adult PHP. She later worked as the Outpatient Behavioral Health Manager for MMC and as Director of Assessment and Referral for Lincoln Prairie Behavioral Health before returning to MMC to work as a Medical Social Worker and Substance Use Therapist. She was also in private practice at Killian and Associates before joining SIU. She currently sees adults and seniors both in individual and couples therapy.

Psychiatry Receives Reaccreditation
SIU's Department of Psychiatry has received a four-year reaccreditation from the Council on Accreditation. The achievement shows the department met high performance standards and is delivering superior quality services to patients.
Congratulations to Stephen Soltys, MD, Professor and Chair, and Jeffrey Bennett, MD, Chief of the Adult Division and Clerkship Director for being voted the most professional faculty personnel in the Department of Psychiatry. They were chosen by the 2013 graduating medical students.
This recognition is based on the attributes of professional behavior according to the American Board of Internal Medicine (ABIM).
