Chad Noggle, Ph.D.
Chief, Division of Behavioral & Psychosocial Oncology
The Division of Behavioral & Psychosocial Oncology is a multidisciplinary team of
health care professionals responsible for clinical care, training,
and research that addresses the emotional, social, spiritual and physical needs of people affected by cancer.
Clinical services are provided to patients of the Simmons
Cancer Institute alongside professionals with expertise in clinical
psychology, chaplaincy, clinical social work, nursing, and
consult-liaison psychiatry. The Side-by-Side Program provides
psychological treatment in conjunction with other healthcare
providers in the treatment of cancer patients and their families. It
is concerned with two aspects: the psychological responses of
patients to cancer at all stages of the disease and that of their
families and caregivers; and the psychological, behavioral and
social factors that may influence the disease process and long-term
survival following their treatment. This division also promotes
cancer prevention, through wellness behavior training such as smoking cessation, weight
reduction, nutritional counseling and exercise.
