Step into the world of SIU School of Medicine through aspects magazine, the official publication of the medical school. ASPECTS is produced four times a year by Editor Karen Carlson and Photographer James Hawker in the Office of External and Health Affairs. Associate Provost Phillip Davis, Ph.D., serves as the advisory board.

For more than 30 years, the magazine, published through the Department of External and Health Affairs, has informed, educated and entertained its audience with news and feature articles concerning the world of education and health care at SIU School of Medicine.

As the name suggests, ASPECTS’ mission is to showcase the varied innovations and continual evolution of our school’s educational programs, clinical activities and progressive research, as well as our commitment to serve the central and southern Illinois community. We also showcase skills and avocations of our faculty, the successes of our alumni, and the activities of our medical students.

Each issue's goal is to continually reinforce and reflect the School’s mission of meeting the health-care needs of citizens in central and southern Illinois.

ASPECTS is distributed free of charge to SIU School of Medicine alumni, faculty, residents, students, employees, donors, as well as state and federal legislators, businesses and community centers, and other friends of the School. Our ever-growing circulation of 11,000 brings the stories of SIU School of Medicine to individuals across Illinois and throughout the world.
