Three receive Marie Koster Good Person Award

Three Institute for Plastic Surgery employees recently became the first recipients of the Marie Koster Good Person Award.

The three winners were selected anonymously by their peers in a voting process that lasted more than three weeks. First place went to nurse administrator Ashley Ingram, second place was awarded to Nada Berry, MD, and third place went to Penny Praia, office support specialist. A plaque was created in Ms. Koster’s honor and the first recipients’ names will appear on it.

The award was created by an anonymous, former plastic surgery resident. At the time of the residency, Ms. Koster was the executive secretary to Dr. Elvin Zook, and also acted as program coordinator for the residents. Marie retired from SIU in 2004 after 27 years of service and passed away on Nov. 29, 2013. According to the donor, the award "would be for those who exhibited ‘the good cheer, good heart and good will’ over the past year that were the hallmarks of her (Marie’s) presence in the office."
