JERRY KRUSE, M.D. - Program
Director Dr. Jerry Kruse, a graduate of the University of Missouri--Columbia, School of Medicine and Family Practice Residency, joined the Quincy Family Practice Program as Assistant Director in 1984, following a Robert Wood Johnson Fellowship in Family Practice. He became program director in 1991. As professor of Family and Community Medicine with the SIU School of Medicine, Dr. Kruse has special interests in maternal and child health, rheumatology and clinical decision making. Dr. Kruse also serves as Chairman of the Department of Family and Community Medicine for the School of Medicine. He was selected the Illinois Academy of Family Practice Teacher of the Year in 1991. He enjoys sports, music, and is also well-known in the residency for being a trivia whiz. |

THOMAS MILLER, M.D. Assistant
Program Director; Director of Clinical Affairs Dr. Thomas Miller is a 1989 graduate of the Rush Medical College, Rush Presbyterian - St. Luke's Medical Center in Chicago. He completed residency training at Lutheran General Hospital in Park Ridge, Illinois and served in a faculty position with that program until joining the Quincy faculty in 1994. Dr. Miller was awarded a certificate in added qualifications in Sports Medicine in 1997. He is an Assistant Professor of Clinical Family and Community Medicine with the Southern Illinois University School of Medicine and has special interests in maternal and child health, smoking cessation, family practice procedures, wellness & health promotion. Dr. Miller especially enjoys spending time with his family, running, and biking. |

TERRY ARNOLD, M.D. - Assistant
Program Director; Director of Undergraduate
Education Dr. Terry Arnold, a graduate of the University of Illinois School of Medicine at Chicago, completed residency training in Family Practice at Riverside Hospital in Newport News, VA, and joined a group practice in Richmond, Virginia. Dr. Arnold served as Director of the Quincy Family Practice Program from 1982 to 1991. His leadership is largely responsible for the development of the program. He currently is Assistant Director and Assistant Professor of Clinical and Community Medicine. In his spare time, Dr. Arnold enjoys gardening and often brightens the clinic with the results of his efforts. |

DEBRA PHILLIPS, M.D. - Associate
Program Director; Director of Rural Medicine Dr. Debra Phillips joined the Quincy staff as Associate Director in August 1983. She is a graduate of the University of Iowa College of Medicine and completed residency in Family Practice at Southern Illinois University-Carbondale. Dr. Phillips is an Associate Professor of Clinical Family and Community Medicine and has a special interest in rural health delivery. She is the medical director of the program's new East Adams Rural Health Clinic in Golden, Illinois. She was selected the Illinois Rural Health Practitioner of the Year in 1997. Dr. Phillips also has interests in computers and medical informatics.

DONNA WHITE, M.D. - Medical
Faculty; Director of Resident Affairs Dr. Donna White is a 1993 graduate of Southern Illinois University School of Medicine. She completed her Family Practice residency at Southern Illinois University Quincy Family Practice where she served as Chief Resident. Dr. White joined Quincy Family Practice in September 1996 as an Assistant Professor of Community and Family Medicine. She has special interests in maternal and child health care as well as rural health care. Dr. White has her primary clinic at East Adams County Rural Health Clinic in Golden, Illinois. Her home often serves as a gathering-spot for residents, and she has hosted a number of barbecues, Thanksgiving dinner, and an annual Christmas party. |

JAMES DANIELS, M.D., M.P.H. - Director;
Director of Academic Affairs Dr. James Daniels, or "J.D." as he is affectionately known, graduated from Quincy College (now Quincy University) and obtained his degree in medicine from Southern Illinois University School of Medicine in Springfield. He completed his residency training at Quincy Family Practice and University of California, San Francisco, Program in Occupational Medicine in 1992. Dr. Daniels is Board-Certified in Family Practice and Occupational Medicine, with certificates of added qualifications in Sports Medicine and Preventive Medicine. His M.P.H. degree was recently confirmed by the Medical College of Wisconsin. In 1995 Dr. Daniels became a full time faculty member at SIU School of Medicine at the SIU-Springfield FP residency program where he served as director. Dr. Daniels joined Quincy Family Practice in July of 1997. He enjoys being with his family, soccer, and being a QU fan. |

PAULA NELSON, M.D. - Medical
Faculty; Assistant Professor Dr. Paula Nelson is a graduate of the University of Missour-Columbia. She completed her residency training in Family Medicine at the Quincy Family Practice Program in 2000. In the year 2000, Dr. Nelson became a full-time faculty at SIU School of Medicine Quincy Family Practice Program. She has a special interest in Maternal and Child Health, Academic Medicine and Professional Development. Currently, Dr. Nelson is an Assistant Professor of Family and Community Medicine. |

KENWOOD FOSTER, M.S.W., L.C.S.W.
- Behavioral Medicine Kenwood Foster, LCSW, received his BA degree from Culver-Stockton College and his Master's in Social Work from Florida State University. He has extensive experience in mental health services, private counseling, geriatric consultation and nursing home administration. He coordinates the geriatric curriculum in the program. In his spare time, Ken enjoys skiing, softball, and target shooting. |

SHIRLEY LONGLETT, L.C.P.C. - Behavioral
Medicine Shirley Longlett, a licensed clinical professional counselor, received both her undergraduate and master's degree in counseling psychology from the University of Missouri-Columbia. Having been behavioral science coordinator here from 1982 to 1990, she rejoined the faculty in 1995 as an education specialist, coordinating the behavioral science component of the rural health curriculum. |

RHONDA KEWNEY, L.C.S.W. - Behavioral
Medicine Rhonda Kewney joined the Quincy faculty in 1990. She received a BA in psychology from Quincy College and master's degree in social work from the University of Missouri-Columbia. She has extensive experience in counseling, and has special interests in program evaluation and resident wellness. She helps coordinates the Behavioral Medicine curriculum and assists with Buildings Operation Systems. |
